How To Install Our Composite Manhole Covers
To ensure that the installation of your composite manhole covers goes smoothly, following this straightforward process that ensures long-lasting durability and safety. Abiding by these steps will help you properly install our SuperCover products to provide effective sewer coverage.
Preparing the Manhole Frame
Before installing the composite manhole cover, it is crucial to prepare the manhole frame properly. Start by clearing any debris and ensuring the frame is clean. Check the level and condition of the frame to ensure it can support the new cover securely.
Installing the Frame and Gaskets
Once the frame is ready, position the SuperCover frame onto the manhole structure while ensuring proper alignment. To prevent infiltration and exfiltration, install the double gasket system provided with the frame. This step helps to enhance the cover's stability and functionality.
Positioning and Securing the Cover
With the frame and gaskets in place, it's time to position the composite cover onto the installed frame. Utilize the self-aligning guides to move the cover into place. Align the bolt holes on the cover with those on the frame and secure them using the provided 316 stainless steel bolts. Ensure the bolts are tightened to the recommended torque specifications for a secure fit.
Installing Safety Dish and Locating Marker
After securing the cover, install the safety dish onto it to provide fall protection. This additional safety measure ensures the cover is safe to use in various environments. Furthermore, install the 3M iD Disk Marker 1414-XR/iD on or near the manhole cover for easy locating in the future.
By following these steps, you can successfully install our composite manhole covers, enhancing the safety and durability of sewer system components.
